| Tapping into your travel potential |

Most people only think about the “where”, but by taking time to know yourself, the big question should be “why”? Once you develop the vocabulary to ask “why”, then a whole new world of travel possibilities unfolds. We are constantly bombarded by verbal and visual images. Some fuel our imagination and curiosity so we feel compelled to travel and make these experiences our own. The core reasons are basic – either to get away from where we are, or because we are drawn to somewhere or something. Beyond that, it becomes more complex.

Some of us came and brought a friend, Others alone, for a different end. Sex, age and weight it mattered naught, For each inside, a dream we brought. This is a very special place, and this small resort (12 rooms) has a very big heart. Fresh air, sunshine, climb a hill Was the daily prescription of Dr Phil, While our favourite medicine for feeling blah, Was another great treatment at the spa.

How does an architect or designer translate the beauty of nature into the physical structures that become a resort? The answer comes from the inside-out — the heart and soul of the creators. Sun, scenery, and serenity are nature’s contribution, and it is fitting you must drive through the Enchanted Forest to get to Poets Cove Seaside Resort & Spa.

There are always defining moments in every person’s life. Many are happy, life affirming events like births, marriages or world events that give us faith in society as individuals and collectively. We added July 2, 2003 for winning the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Homeport Cruising - Either the Spanish or the Chinese were the first cruisers to sail past Vancouver, but neither ever came ashore. They kept sailing, and missed what makes Vancouver a top tourist destination and premier gateway to Alaska. From May till September, we watch 125 cruise ship departures glide under the Lion’s Gate Bridge to or from Alaska. Vancouverites’ interest in Alaska

How can we measure the power of water? Water has been treated with a mixture of reverence and fear from time immemorial. We are 90% water ourselves, and it is an integral part of many religious rituals, and of course, the weather. We cannot survive without it. Was Noah’s Ark really the first cruise ship? With expanding capacity and a huge variety of products, look at factors such as port of embarkation (a separate travel expense), destinations, and then other factors such as the cruise line, the ship itself, and the activities.Amenities and accommodations, size and style, and comfort and cuisine determine whether the ship is the destination or a mode of transportation, or a balance of both.

My stomach always knows first. It’s that “If Mexican jumping beans could smile” feeling. Some call it anticipation, others excitement, and I must admit to also getting it every time I wake up in or arrive back to my new condo (see Virginia Leeming’s cover article), but I know that I get that feeling precisely because it still feels like I am on vacation – after all I have waited 3 years for my Shangri-la by the water to be finished, and I have lived here less than 3 weeks! Why, I have travelled for far longer periods than that! So,why do we travel anyway? Most people think the “where” is the beginning and end of choice, but if you develop the vocabulary to ask “why?”, then a whole new world of travel possibilities unfolds.

| Indulging in the Good Life of Travel |

What are the pictures that you conjure up in your mind’s eye when you think about that mind-body space we call relaxing and unwinding? Preferences vary greatly, but quite often it revolves around eating and drinking. At home I think about bubble baths and champagne, romantic dinners for two, a good book with a glass of wine or a convivial gathering with family and friends. When travelling we take in a new environment, indulging in the beauty, the culture and the local food and drink… sampling the best of the region without worrying about the dishes. We talk about the sensuality of food: the textures, flavours and smells. We even clink glasses so as to involve all five of our senses in the act of wishing good health and cheer. | |
